Giwyn will be presenting our work to expand reproductive health information at the Global Safe Abortion Dialogue today.
Reaching the Most Vulnerable
Giwyn has focused its efforts on reaching high-priority communities (HPCs) in Nigeria, including sex workers,LGBTQ+ individuals, internally displaced people, and those with disabilities. These communities often face significant barriers to accessing sexual and reproductive health services. Through training community members and healthcare workers, GIWYN has expanded access to accurate information and support about pregnancy.
Empowering Through Training
Our comprehensive training program has equipped pharmacists, peer educators, and community health workers with the knowledge and skills to provide accurate information and counseling on safe abortion. The positive impact of these trainings is evident in the increased confidence and willingness of participants to discuss abortion openly and refer individuals to the Ms. Rosy hotline for further support.
A Holistic Approach to Care
The Ms. Rosy hotline offers more than just information. It provides callers with non-judgmental support, financial assistance for reproductive health costs, and referrals to trusted healthcare providers. This holistic approach has been instrumental in reducing stigma, alleviating financial burdens, and ensuring access to safe services for women in Nigeria.
Building a Network of Support
Our
work extends beyond the hotline. By building referral networks and advocating within communities, they are creating a sustainable ecosystem for access in Nigeria. Our commitment to community-based efforts is crucial in addressing the unique challenges faced by HPCs and ensuring that every woman has the right to make informed decisions about her reproductive health.
